About Us

Burton & Co is a boutique commercial law firm with its offices in Auckland, New Zealand. It has a commercial clientele based in New Zealand and elsewhere around the world.

The firm was set up in 1989 when Nigel Burton, having left a larger Auckland law firm, decided to commence practice on his own account and set up the foundations for the firm as it is today.

In 1998 Jeremy Carr joined the firm as a partner and in December 1999 the firm moved to its present offices at the Viaduct Basin, Auckland.

On 1 April 2001 Tony Nicholson became a partner.

The firm now has three partners and a team of experienced lawyers, legal executives and support staff.

The firm has a narrow focus of general commercial law and commercial property.

The belief at Burton & Co is that we do what we do well. If confronted with an area in which we do not have a sufficient level of expertise then the work is briefed to those whom we believe are best able to achieve the desired result. Burton & Co does not pretend to be a full service legal firm but does believe that through its network of associations and knowledge of the legal profession in New Zealand it can provide the best result for most clients.

Burton & Co also has close associations and dealings with a number of leading international accountancy, consultancy and other professional firms and is a member of international legal networks with representation in over 50 countries Worldwide.
